Advantages of Renuvion

Renuvion is a simple skin-tightening procedure to treat loose, excess skin, and wrinkles around the body, neck, and face. Through intrinsic factors like collagen loss and extrinsic factors like prolonged sun exposure, our skin loses its elasticity. This loss of elasticity results in our appearance looking older and less vibrant. For those who still feel young on the inside, this might be detrimental to their self-confidence. To restore your skin’s elasticity – and your self-confidence – Dr. Roby F. Hayes is proud to recommend Renuvion to his Portland clientele. Unlike other skin tightening lasers, Renuvion boasts certain advantages that put it on a tier of its own. If you would like to see how Renuvion can tighten different areas around your body, please schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Hayes. About Skin Laxity

Our skin is the only one of our organs to undergo photoaging: aging that is enhanced by sun and free radicals exposure. Naturally, the taut collagen and elastin fibers in our skin keep it tight, wrinkle-free, and close to the muscle. However, through fluctuations in weight and age-dependent collagen loss, our skin naturally loses its elasticity and starts to wrinkle or hang further away from the body. Factors such as unprotected sun exposure, poor diet, and persistent stress cause our existing collagen fibers to weaken and the cells responsible for collagen production to slow.[1] Gradually, as we get older, our body’s collagen supply will dwindle, leaving our skin lax and wrinkled. While supplement companies, skincare products, and aesthetic professionals promise total skin rejuvenation, many of our clients come to us and report underwhelming results – if any!

About Renuvion

Renuvion is the most advanced and effective skin-tightening device in the cosmetic industry. Consisting of a small handle with a long, skinny electrode, the Renuvion device uses ionized radiofrequency energy to target subdermal layers of the skin. The radiofrequency energy is ionized with helium gas to create safe but effective thermal energy. This thermal energy passes through the device’s electrode and out to the targeted tissue. When enough heat interacts with collagen fibers, the fibers contract, pulling both ends of their helixes closer together.[2] This results in a tighter underlying structure to the dermis, and the process is what restores the skin’s elasticity after just one treatment. Over the next 6 to 12 months, the treated collagen receptors continually dispense new, healthier collagen fibers to restore and reinforce existing ones.[3] So, Renuvion patients can continue to see improving results for up to a year after their session.

Renuvion vs. The Competition

But with all the skin tightening procedures out there, what makes Renuvion leagues ahead of its peers?

Better Control

Notably, other skin tightening devices can leave burns on surrounding tissue because the device’s temperature goes too high, takes too long to apply, and uncontrollably affects neighboring tissue. However, unlike other skin tightening devices, Renuvion’s thermal energy does not spread too far from its electrode.[4] This controlled energy allows for the experienced surgeon to only treat the targeted areas. Also, unlike other devices, Renuvion has a self-limiting ability to regulate its thermal temperature. Studies have shown that the temperature of the skin does not rise as significantly as other skin tightening treatments.[4] The special plasma energy that is exclusive to Renuvion can precisely deliver this controlled heat instantly. This shorter duration allows for no burns to the surrounding tissue and less time in the treatment room.

Better Results

When heated to around 85°C (around 185°F), the soft tissue at the subdermal plane coagulates and contracts. Because of its controlled thermal energy, Renuvion can heat the target tissue faster while keeping the surrounding tissue cool. Unlike other skin tightening devices, Renuvion’s energy targets the fibro-septal network (FSN). The FSN is rich in adipocytes – the cells that make up fat tissue. Targeting the adipocytes with soft tissue contraction can lead to a volume loss of 45% in skin laxity.[5] Since other skin tightening devices don’t target the FSN, they can’t quite reach this level of results.

Am I Eligible For Renuvion?

As everyone ages differently, your skin might be more or less elastic than someone else around your age. Some people might see mild to moderate skin laxity after completing a weight loss journey or having a child. Others might notice excess skin hiding their jawline. And many might not notice hard-to-treat skin on their upper arms. For all of these patients, we recommend Renuvion. This procedure is ideal for those who are interested in little downtime but remarkable results. If you are interested in learning more about how Renuvion can rejuvenate your loose skin, please schedule a personal consultation at our Portland offices.

Personal Consultation

Dr. Roby F. Hayes has over 25 years as a board-certified surgeon. He has helped thousands of patients navigate the surgical process to a happier and healthier well-being. Specializing in an array of cosmetic procedures, Dr. Hayes is excited to give his patients the reliable results of Renuvion.

We will begin your initial consultation with a brief new patient intake form and physical examination. Then, Dr. Hayes will examine your areas of concern. Since skin laxity can persist on any part of the body, many of our patients have multiple treatable spots. He will note these places elasticity and fat density. Commonly, patients who have loose skin have a small amount of unwanted fat in the same area. For these, Dr. Hayes includes VASER Liposuction. VASER Liposuction carefully sculpts away the subcutaneous fat that may be lingering behind your loose skin. When Dr. Hayes pairs these two procedures together, the patient sees a more sculpted, defined area. Once he has determined which approach is best for you, Dr. Hayes will construct a personalized treatment plan to address each one of your cosmetic concerns.

A Renuvion Procedure

Dr. Hayes will begin your Renuvion procedure by reviewing your treatment plan with you. We will then administer the appropriate anesthesia. Typically, local anesthesia is suitable for a procedure like this, but some patients might feel more comfortable with a relaxing sedative. Once the area is numb, Dr. Hayes creates a small incision for the Renuvion electrode to slip in subcutaneously. At a temperature of 85°C, the tissue only needs to be treated for 0.044 seconds for maximal contraction.[5] This means that Dr. Hayes can treat multiple areas quickly. After one or two passes with the Renuvion device, your subdermal tissue will have been efficiently treated. Dr. Hayes will suture the small incision and release you from our care.

Recovery

After your session, the treated area might be sore or tender. This is completely normal. While some results are seen immediately, you will notice the skin gradually tighten over the course of the next few months. If Dr. Hayes incorporated VASER Liposuction in your procedure, the area will be wrapped in a compression garment. We will examine where you are in the healing process during your follow-up meetings and determine what actions, if any, need to be taken for better healing.

Cost

Since multiple areas can be treated in one session, the cost of your Renuvion session will vary. Also, some patients might require more than one session to achieve their desired aesthetic appearance, so that will also influence your final cost. FAQ

What is Renuvion?

Renuvion is a skin tightening device that uses radiofrequency and ionized plasma to contract and coagulate skin from underneath the dermis. When thermal energy interacts with the subdermal cells, the skin smooths away any wrinkles or fine lines and tightens any skin laxity. It is a perfect option for those who have mild to moderate skin laxity around their legs, arms, abdomen, face, neck, or jawline.

How is Renuvion better than other skin-tightening procedures?

With its self-regulating functions, Renuvion can avoid leaving burns and damaging tissue – unlike other skin tightening techniques. The thermal energy from Renuvion pinpoints only the dermal cells, leaving the surrounding tissue cool and unaffected. These benefits lead to shorter procedural time and shorter downtime – but with enhanced results!
